A new documentary, Thames Water: Inside the Crisis, is set to air on BBC Two next week, featuring exclusive behind-the-headlines access to Britain’s largest water company as it battles for survival.
The two-part series captures the troubled utility’s attempts to fix everything from sewage spills to the several billions-shaped hole in their finances. Filmed over six months, with access from senior management to the staff on the frontline, it follows key characters at the heart of the storm.
The programme sees Thames Water face the problem of running out of cash and asking for increases in customer bills. In one of the country’s largest sewage works, the documentary joins the team as they try to stop sewage flowing into the river Thames and meet the campaigners watching the company’s every move. From the CEO Chris Weston and the new management team to the men and women coping with a system under pressure, the series sees the staff face challenges at every level.
Thames Water: Inside the Crisis airs on BBC Two at 9pm on Monday 17 March and Tuesday 18 March and will be available on BBC iPlayer.
