Shirel Stedman to lead new environmental services at PJA

PJA, the transport, engineering and placemaking consultancy says it has expanded its offer to include environmental services, complementing its existing business.

Shirel Stedman has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director to advise the company as it strengthens its water resources team and makes advances in the nature positive field. She brings to PJA a 30-year successful track record in commercial management and directorship working for Halcrow, Ardent and DEFRA. Shirel is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

As a practice we have always challenged accepted norms and sought to learn new ways of thinking from the best minds in the industry. Shirel has enabled us to grasp the opportunity to carry out a wide range of water and nature–based projects and make environmental services a key part of our business.”

PJA said it already supports its clients with strong placemaking, active travel, transport planning, water resources, civil engineering and ground engineering services. This move brings a commitment to guide clients through further regulatory requirements by strengthening its existing water services and adding capability in bio-diversity and nature-positive sciences.

The new nature services now on offer at PJA include UK Habitat Surveys, Habitat Condition, River Condition and Hedgerow Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Reporting, Habitat Enhancement and Creation Proposals, and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans. The existing water resources offering will also be expanded to include Rain Gardens, Blue Green Infrastructure, Urban Water Systems, Resilience Infrastructure, Climate Resilience and Catchment analysis.
