Environmental campaigning organisation Waterwise has announced its new Chair – Diane McCrea MBE. Diane brings a wealth of experience and impact in chairing, Trusteeship and leadership across the charity/not-for-profit, public and private sectors.

Waterwise – whose vision is that water is used wisely every day, everywhere, by everyone – is a leading independent voice in the UK for using water wisely for the benefit of people and the planet. Waterwise works with organisations, individuals and communities to lead and inspire change so that water is never wasted. As a not-for-profit organisation, Waterwise actively supports and challenges everyone it works with to aim high on water efficiency for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy.

Waterwise CEO Nicci Russell said:

“We’re absolutely delighted that Diane is our new Chair! She has fantastic experience as Chair of Shelter Cymru, Natural Resources Wales, Cynnal Cymru – Sustain Wales, and Vice Chair of the Consumer Council for Water. Diane even has an MBE for services to water consumers! Diane was recruited through an anonymous recruitment process, and Waterwise is very lucky to have her steering us through the next exciting stage of our journey. Diane’s been on our Board for two years already, and was our interim Chair, so we also know that her approach is very inclusive.

“We’re embarking on the next stage of our journey as Waterwise, and Diane and the Board will be a key part of that. We will be doing more of what we’re great at, including policy advocacy and campaigns – and we will be driving more water efficiency with individuals, organisations and communities. We will be growing the water-saving services we offer to organisations and we will be increasing our customer-facing activity to drive greater awareness and action on water scarcity and water efficiency. Working with partners, we will save even more water.”

Waterwise Chair Diane McCrea MBE said:

“Having been a Non-Executive Director with Waterwise, I am so impressed with the work the team does and what it achieves – there is much more to do and we are all up for the challenge of the agenda ahead.

“I am so pleased to be stepping up to take on the Chair’s role, to lead the talented and diverse board, and to work with Nicci who leads this exceptional team.  Not only does Waterwise drive action on water scarcity and water efficiency, it also leads the way on being an inclusive organisation with a key focus on delivery equity, diversity and inclusion in all our work. It will be an exciting time as we progress our ambitious agenda: I am delighted to be taking up this role with Waterwise and to be making my contribution to this important cause.”
