Drainage and surface water solutions manufacturer Wavin has won gold at the ESG & Sustainability Awards 2024 with its ‘See Water Differently’ campaign.
Run by PRMoment, the ESG & Sustainability Awards showcase the best ESG campaigns from brands in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Wavin took home the award for Best ESG Campaign to Create or Improve the Sustainability of Cities and/or Communities in last week’s award ceremony for its campaign. This project brought effective water management to the top of the agenda and highlighted the sustainable solutions available to address the worsening climate and stormwater crises.
The campaign began in April with a panel discussion in London’s iconic Sky Garden, chaired by ITV weather presenter and meteorologist Laura Tobin. The event, which was hosted by Wavin with support from agency partner, Tangerine, was attended by 150 influential professionals in the construction and urban planning sectors. The evening featured insights from leading experts from businesses such as Thames Water and Stormwater Shepherds and leading academics on the topic of sustainable urban water management.
Following on from this, Wavin launched its ‘See Water Differently’ whitepaper to highlight the role that urban climate resilience (UCR) will play in developing and futureproofing the country’s urban centres. Key findings emphasised the importance of hybrid solutions that integrate natural “green” and engineered “grey” infrastructure, along with the potential for enhanced collaboration between water companies, providers, and local authorities.
The campaign successfully helped put the issue of water management in front of hundreds of thousands of people, including industry leaders who are in a position to implement change, through the event and subsequent whitepaper, and was recognised at the recent ESG Awards as a result.
Martin Lambley, Global Product Manager for Urban Climate Resilience at Wavin, said:
“It’s fantastic to see our recent awards success, and this win is a testament to our organisation-wide vision of ensuring cities are future-proof and livable. The ‘See Water Differently’ campaign was a huge success, and we hope its findings and recommendations continue to drive a sea change in our relationship with water.
“We’d also like to thank the participants of our event in April for their efforts in making this campaign such a success. This work has helped to make the stormwater crisis impossible to ignore, while helping to bring together the stakeholders in the best position to drive the change that our communities need to thrive in a climate-defined future.”
