United Utilities claims victory in the WWEM Instrumentation Apprentice Competition

This year’s Instrumentation Apprentice Competition took place at the recent WWEM exhibition, held at the NEC Birmingham on the 9th and 10th of October.

The competition, now in its tenth year, featured teams from Severn Trent Water, South West Water, Thames Water & United Utilities competing across three rounds.

Led by Oliver Grievson of AtkinsRéalis and Leo Carswell of the WRc, the competition is supported by both supply chain companies including ABB, Siemes, Vega Control, Xylem, Hach, Endress+Hauser, Insitu-Process, RS Hydro, Badger Meter & Siris Environmental as well as the Institute of Measurement & Control.

This year the team from United Utilities came out victorious, and winners Jamie Benson and Nathaniel Ward were presented with trophies at the WWEM Gala Dinner.

Oliver Grievson, co-organizer of the Instrumentation Apprentice Competition, said:

“To see so many fantastic apprentices from the water industry at the current time when the instrumentation side of the industry is seeing so many regulatory instruments being installed is heartening as the apprentices of today will be the future of the water industry.”
