GHD win six-year AMP8 Wessex Water contract

GHD, a leading global professional services firm, has been awarded a new contract to provide design services for Wessex Water’s PR24 capital programme.

GHD will provide a comprehensive suite of services including optioneering, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, construction support, and ongoing assistance to Wessex Water’s design teams for the eighth asset management (AMP8) regulatory period, which runs from 2025 to 2030.

Customers and communities across the south-west of England will benefit from GHD’s work with Wessex Water. GHD’s efforts will focus on decreasing storm overflow and leakage, enhancing water quality, protecting biodiversity, and improving the resilience of the water system.

Wessex Water, serving over 2.8 million customers, plans to invest £3.7 billion during this period, marking the largest investment since the privatisation of the water sector in 1989.

A trusted partner in the water industry, GHD brings a wealth of expertise to the partnership. The contract, initially running for six years with an option for an extension of up to five additional years, aligns with GHD’s longstanding commitment to creating resilient and digital water solutions.

John Hensman, UK Market Leader – Water, GHD, commented:

“This programme marks a significant milestone as the UK water sector promises unprecedented environmental investment over the next five years. We look forward to working with Wessex Water to deliver lasting community benefits. This contract win reflects GHD’s technical and design expertise, aimed at improving the quality of life for customers and local residents alike.”

Paul Lewis, Engineering and Delivery Director, Wessex Water, said:

“These awards will enable a much wider reach for the delivery, training, development, secondments and apprenticeships across the partnership for a programme that is more than double the size of our AMP7 (2020-25) commitments.”
