UK pumping solutions leader Selwood visited by Eastleigh MP

Liz Jarvis MP paid a visit to Selwood headquarters in Chandler’s Ford, to learn about the company’s growth, commitment to sustainability and work in the community.  

Selwood is renowned as the UK’s leader in pump rental and engineered water handling solutions, employing more than 500 staff across a UK-wide branch network.

The MP for Eastleigh was given a tour of Selwood’s manufacturing facility, where pumps are designed and built for use in its rental fleet domestically and internationally.

Liz Jarvis MP spoke to Dan Lee, CEO of Selwood’s parent company Workdry, about Selwood’s commitment to its people, customers and the environment it operates in.

Liz Jarvis commented: “It was a pleasure visiting Selwood, and seeing what Selwood do and how they provide support and employment to the community. The commitment of Selwood and Workdry to spearhead innovative initiatives and sustainable growth is truly commendable.”

Dan said: “It was great to welcome Liz Jarvis MP to Selwood and for her to see first-hand how we provide exceptional solutions and services, with a focus on sustainability and workplace safety and how we strive to contribute to our community here in Chandler’s Ford and at our branches across the UK.”

Selwood has implemented a host of sustainability measures including the use of cleaner burning HVO fuel in Selwood pump engines, the use of electric engines in place of diesel wherever possible, an investment in electric vehicles, Sustainability Linked Loans and membership of the Supply Chain Sustainability School.

It supports a range of causes and community organisations, including Southampton-based HoneyPot Children’s Charity, through fundraising, activities, donations, and time volunteered.

Selwood say they are committed to encouraging young people into the water industry by actively working with schools and colleges to support its apprenticeship programme.

Putting its people at the core of the organisation, Selwood has invested in comprehensive training programmes up to NVQ 4 level, Mental Health First Aid and a Health and Safety Initiative – Think Safe, Work Safe, Home Safe, which included investment in its SHEQ and HR teams and a new learning management system.

Through Workdry, Selwood will deliver a comprehensive Sustainability Action Plan in the next 12 months, setting out a clear road map and key milestones to reduce its impact on climate change and contribute to society.
