Benfleet water network upgrade starts final phase

Work is set to start on the final part of a project to upgrade the water network in Benfleet, Essex.

The work will finalise the water company’s wider investment, aimed at reducing the potential for older water mains to burst within the carriageway. Such incidents can cause unplanned emergency closures that severely impact local road networks.

Essex & Suffolk Water has been working closely with Essex County Council’s Highways Department to plan and manage the work to ensure minimum disruption to motorists.

Daren Still, Essex & Suffolk Water’s Project Manager, said:

“We are nearing the end of this essential piece of work, which will deliver long-term benefits for road users by reducing the risk of unplanned disruption.

“This final stage of work is timed to minimise impact.
