In his first wave of Cabinet appointments after winning the General Election, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced the appointment of Steve Reed to the post of Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Steve is currently the elected MP for Streatham and Croydon North, re-elected for the 4th time with 23,232 votes and a majority of 15,603. He has been an MP continually since November 2012.
He has held the post of Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since September 2023.
Steve has previously spoken out against the sewage scandal, and has called for the mandatory monitoring of every outlet.
Prior to his election to Parliament, he was leader of Lambeth London Borough Council (2006 to 2012).
