An infrastructure surveyor with more than 12 years of experience in the sector has joined a leading property consultancy to lead on major project delivery across East Anglia.
James Gowing has been named as a new partner at Fisher German’s Bury St Edmunds office, where he will lead the established team in providing land and property advice to key clients across the region as part of the delivery of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
James joins Fisher German after an extensive career as a surveyor, first in rural practice with a national consultancy prior to making the move into the infrastructure sector, specialising in securing Development Consent Orders (DCOs) for major projects including offshore wind, interconnectors and nuclear on behalf of a wide range of clients.
He will now focus on growing the Bury St Edmunds team delivering for the firm’s existing client base and winning further work in East Anglia alongside securing DCOs for Fisher German’s existing projects in the region.
James said:
“I’m really pleased to have joined Fisher German at a time when it is looking to increase its influence within East Anglia and grow its team.
“The firm is a well-known name within the industry so when the opportunity came around, it felt like an obvious choice.
“I’ve been busy from day one, which is a great sign when joining a new firm. Fisher German has several key projects in East Anglia which require DCOs to go ahead, and the team and I are all focused on getting them secured as smoothly as possible through careful negotiations with affected landowners and other stakeholders.
“Based on my short time here so far, I’m confident we can progress them all to completion and add to the team in Bury St Edmunds.”
Matthew Hodgetts, Head of Infrastructure Consultancy at Fisher German, added:
“James’s considerable experience as an infrastructure surveyor and securing DCOs for his clients makes him an excellent addition to Fisher German.
“East Anglia is a real hotspot for a number of critical infrastructure projects, so having someone with James’s expertise on board to help them achieve the consent they need to become a reality is really important.
“We’re delighted he has joined the firm, and we look forward to seeing the effect he has on growing Fisher German’s presence in East Anglia.”
