United Utilities appoints new Enterprise lead

United Utilities has announced that Tony Slater has been appointed as Director to lead its new Enterprise organisation.

Adopting Project 13 principles within an integrated and collaborative commercial model involving multiple strategic partners, the new Enterprise will deliver circa £2.5bn of complex design & build capital investment improvements for United Utilities during its AMP8 investment period.

With a background as a civil engineer, Tony brings demonstrable history of successful programme delivery and enterprise working within UK infrastructure, including senior experience of rail and highways projects with organisations such as Balfour Beatty.

In April 2020 he was appointed Managing Director of SMP Alliance by National Highways, assuming responsibility for successfully mobilising this collaborative alliance of seven member organisations and 100 supplier partners to efficiently deliver £1.2bn of enhancements across the strategic road network.

Welcoming Tony to United Utilities, Jane Simpson, Capital Delivery, Engineering & Commercial Director said:

“Tony impressed us with a truly collaborative approach, and his experience mobilising and leading multidisciplinary teams in alliance environments will help ensure success for the launch of our new Enterprise organisation, which is due to form shortly in readiness for delivering on our PR24 commitments during AMP8.”
