Falco awarded place on Lot 2 of Thames Water’s Runaway 1 framework

Utilities contractor Falco has been awarded a place on Lot 2 of Thames Water’s Runaway 1 framework to provide civils and maintenance of non-infrastructure assets.

The contract, which runs for 4 years, covers infra work (i.e. below-ground water and sewerage) from £250k to £5 million in value on clean and waste water treatment facilities throughout the Thames Water region.

“We are delighted to be given a place on the R1 framework which is a significant milestone in our growth as  company,” said Falco’s Managing Director, Brendan Griffin, “This will help us build on the success of our work on RW0 last year and provides us with a chance to tackle more substantial civils work and showcase our range of skills, in particular our design and build capabilities”.

Falco were awarded a place on the Runway 0 framework, which covers non-infrastructure civils works up to £250k in value. Recent works completed on R0 include two developments in Moulsford and Hungerford where Falco undertook both Principal Contractor and Principal Designer roles.

The 20-week project to build a new cleanwater boosting station at Moulsford in Oxfordshire involved installing a new large kiosk base, extensive pipework connections/testing and the construction of a reinforced concrete access road. The works to increase the storm water storage capacity at the sewerage treatment works in Hungerford, near Cambridge, involved installing a pumping system to transfer storm flows in and out of an existing repurposed aeration tank.

Falco has been delivering groundworks packages to facilitate the repair, maintenance of Thames Water assets for over 20 years. In April 2021 the company was awarded a 3-year Framework Contract, to provide repair and maintenance of existing flood alleviation systems (FLIPs) to protect households against flooding from surface and sewer discharge. Under this contract Falco has successfully completed the repair, maintenance and upgrade of over 200 FLIPs to a high level of customer satisfaction.

“Small-Medium Project Work Runway 1” is part of Thames Water’s new capital procurement strategy for the remainder of AMP7 (to 31 March 2025) and into AMP8 (2025 to 2030) to provide a delivery vehicle for civils repairs and maintenance of its water and wastewater assets.
