HSL Compliance acquires technology company Plexus Innovation

HSL Compliance has acquired Durham-based technology company Plexus Innovation to enhance its market-leading water safety services.

HSL Compliance helps its clients to comply with health and safety legislation and create safe environments for people to live and work.

Plexus Innovation uses state-of-the-art Internet of Things (IoT) technology to develop bespoke remote monitoring solutions, an emerging and important area in water safety industry. The technology will enable HSL to accurately monitor its client’s individual water assets remotely, alerting them to issues as they arise and allowing the business’ expert engineers to take targeted action to resolve.

As well as water safety, including Legionella compliance and water treatment, HSL also supports its clients with other building safety requirements including, fire safety, hazardous materials safety and other associated environmental health & safety services.

Following the acquisition, Kevin Belben has been appointed Director of Plexus Innovation and will continue to lead Plexus’ sales and marketing activities.

The transaction is HSL Compliance’s fourth acquisition in 18 months, after it acquired Jordan Environmental, DMA Canyon and Chemical Treatment Services.

The deal team at HSL Compliance was led by Tom Taylor and Gavin Hartley with external taxation support from Stephen Hemmings of Menzies (London), and legal support from Arpinder Dhillon of Harrison Clark Rickerby (Ross-on-Wye).

Plexus Innovation was supported by Chris Hughes of Mincoffs (Newcastle).
