Pennon celebrates National Apprenticeship Week with 52 new apprenticeship opportunities

Pennon Group is marking National Apprenticeship Week with the announcement of 52 new apprenticeship opportunities across the Greater South West.

Pennon’s award-winning apprenticeships programme gives successful applicants the chance to work across the company’s businesses South West Water, Bristol Water and Bournemouth Water to gain invaluable experience in the water industry.

A total of 12 roles are opening for Engineering Technician Apprenticeships with the company. Spread over four years, the programme will give apprentices the chance to gain hands-on experience in the workplace alongside college studies.

Pennon will be recruiting for a further 33 roles for Treatment Technician Apprentices. This apprenticeship is an 18-month programme combining classroom learning with practical training days on a South West Water site.

There are also a further 7 apprenticeship vacancies opening across a variety of teams, including Network Technicians and Network Operatives to Data Analysts.

Adele Barker, Pennon Group’s Chief People Officer, said:

“At Pennon we’re always looking for new ways to attract the very best talent from across our region and beyond. We want to see those of all ages and backgrounds join our business, who can help us continue to be a dynamic and diverse organisation.

“Our apprenticeships programme is a fantastic way to bring new people with fresh ideas into the business, while also providing invaluable workplace experience to those interested in pursuing a career in the water industry.”

The company is going above and beyond to attract and support the next generation of water industry experts and has doubled its apprenticeship and graduate schemes with plans to recruit 1,000 people in these positions by 2030, along with offering 5,000 work placement opportunities.
