Water sector salaries expected to remain stable despite ongoing skills shortages

Carrington West has announced that their 2024 Water & Wastewater Salary Survey & Guide is now available to download from their website.

The guide highlights some of the hiring and salary trends in the water and wastewater sector recruitment market. Analysis for 2024 suggests that water sector salaries are expected to remain stable despite ongoing skills shortages.

The survey includes a short 2023 market overview as well as a 2024 market outlook, where their expert consultants share their views on current recruitment trends.

Carrington West Department Manager Dave Kua, says:

“2023 was a challenging year for hiring organisations in the sector, with a noticeable skills shortage making it difficult to find staff, pushing salaries up as a result. Whilst the challenges are likely to remain the same in 2024, we expect salary levels to plateau as consultancies and contractors push back in a bid to manage costs. Instead, employers will be looking at offering other benefits to attract staff, such as increased flexible working options.”

The survey details expected 2024 annual salaries and contract rates for electrical, mechanical fitter, engineering, site management and project management roles in the M&E, civils and consultancy sub-sectors.
