Galliford Try appoints Head of Consultancy for Environment business

Galliford Try, one of the UK’s leading construction groups, has appointed Stewart Evans to the newly-created role of Head of Consultancy for its recently upscaled Environment division.

Stewart has more than 20 years’ experience in the sector, including significant client-side experience at the likes of Anglian Water and Yorkshire Water, and his breadth of expertise extends from design, bidding to programme delivery and business planning.

In his new role, he will lead the growth of Galliford Try Environment’s Consultancy business which offers design services on a package and secondment basis to both the UK water and industrial sectors with areas of in-house specialisation.

His focus will be to build and maintain trusted long-term relationships with new and existing clients based on a service that adds value, is of high quality, is effective and cost efficient in its market sectors.

Stewart will report to Wayne Hickling, Engineering Director, and become part of the Environment Division’s Senior Leadership Team. He joins from Sweco where he carried out the combined role of Business Development Manager and Head of Engineering.

Commenting on Stewart’s appointment, Steve Slessor, Managing Director for Galliford Try’s Environment division, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Stewart to our team as we expand our Consultancy offering to clients, with a focus on supporting them to deliver high-quality design engineering as they look to tackle sector challenges of ageing infrastructure, climate change resilience, funding pressure and an increasingly stringent regulatory environment.

Stewart added: “It’s a really exciting time to be joining Galliford Try’s Environment business. The company has a great reputation, having cemented its position as the leading contractor in its sectors and its investment in digitalisation, carbon reduction and innovation is transforming clients’ management of their assets.”
