Northumbrian Water among best in UK for wellbeing

Northumbrian Water is officially one of the best workplaces in the UK for employee wellbeing, according to Great Place to Work UK.

The prestigious recognition took into consideration the health and safety of staff, as well as offerings for mental wellbeing, diversity and inclusion.

Northumbrian Water was listed among 250 organisations and was the only water and sewerage company to make the list.

The fantastic achievement, which was awarded following a survey of employees, looked at a variety of different initiatives undertaken by the company – including the award-winning ‘Living Well’ programme which is a one-stop-shop for health and wellbeing information.

Other offerings, such as a digital GP, a ‘Mind’ assistance programme, wellbeing webinars, sports and social clubs, flu vaccinations and bowel cancer screenings also were taken into consideration to award the title.

Elouise Leonard-Cross, Head of People Strategy & Experience at Northumbrian Water said:

“It is absolutely fantastic that we have been recognised for all of our work when it comes to health and wellbeing within the company, and I am incredibly proud to be a part of one of the ‘Best in the UK’ organisations.

“However, it is even better to see the difference it makes to our people as we have our variety of offerings in place. Our people are incredibly passionate and work hard all year round to keep the water flowing, so it is extremely important to make sure that every single one of them are supported however they need.

“This recognition demonstrates the one team approach we see every day across our business, and we are committed to understanding how we can continue to create a healthy workplace and support the needs of our diverse colleagues.”

In 2022, Northumbrian Water made the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list for the second time, as Great Place to Work® performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit™ submissions from each company. It then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies’ employee value propositions against the culture their employees actually experience.
