Galliford Try advances capital maintenance strategy with Welsh Water framework win

Galliford Try, one of the UK’s leading construction groups, has been successful on two major frameworks for Welsh Water, representing the first capital maintenance framework wins for the business since the acquisition of nmcn water.

Galliford Try has secured places on the Major Mechanical and Major Electrical frameworks covering a five-year period transcending AMP7 and AMP8, with a potential extension for a further three years. The framework is expected to be worth in the region of £20m to the Group in the initial five-year term.

The win represents Galliford Try’s first framework with Welsh Water for over 10 years and comes in close succession to the business’s appointment on Northumbrian Water’s AMP7 framework. Galliford Try is now working for all 11 of the regulated water and sewage companies across the England, Wales and Scotland, across its design and build and capital maintenance activities.

Steve Slessor, Managing Director of Galliford Try’s Environment business, said:

“We have been making fantastic progress of advancing our Sustainable Growth Strategy, which targets further growth in complementary and adjacent markets. From being a traditional design and build contractor, we have had great success extending our capability into capital maintenance and asset optimisation. These additional capabilities equip us well to support the sector in tackling the challenges of ageing infrastructure, climate change resilience, funding pressure and an increasingly stringent regulatory environment and we look forward to working together with Welsh Water to deliver better outcomes for customers across the country.”
