The Environment Agency is to use Mott MacDonald’s Moata Intelligent Content as its Smart Object Library (SOL) and will make it available to all of the Agency’s internal teams and project delivery partners.
The move allows the Environment Agency to use and re-use high-quality, standardised BIM content across its project portfolio, to reduce model development time and enable the rapid prototyping of designs. Moata Intelligent Content provides a standardised, managed library of BIM objects that can be re-used instead of re-created. It will give the Environment Agency and its collaborative partnerships the objects they need to develop designs at pace and with confidence – delivering efficiencies, improving sustainability and helping to reach net zero carbon targets.
The award follows the successful demonstration over the last 12 months of Moata’s capabilities and Mott MacDonald’s digital advisory and water project delivery domain expertise. The managed object aspect featuring a team of experts, creating and quality checking all objects before they are made available, makes the Moata Intelligent Content library particularly powerful, with each component of the highest quality so it can be used accurately via supply partners and projects.

The flood and coastal erosion risk management (FCERM) capital programme, of which this is part, plays a key role in delivering the broader EA2025 plan to protect and enhance the environment as a whole and contribute to sustainable development. By 2025, the aim is to have created more climate resilient places and infrastructure, by ensuring the nation is prepared for flooding and coastal change.
