Government finally responds to EAC’s report on river water quality

Water quality in rivers: Government Response to the Environmental Audit Committee’s Fourth Report of Session 2021–22

The Government has responded to the Environmental Audit Committee’s report, ‘Water Quality in Rivers’, two months later than originally intended.

The EAC report, issued in January of this year, was due to get official government response by March.

The response, published today (16 May) suggests that restoring water quality is a priority for government, but goes on to say the intention is to set out a comprehensive approach to improving water quality when the 25 Year Environment Plan is updated in January 2023.

The full Government response can be read here.
